Exercise - whilst
we
can't offer any cures for back pain we can provide you with access to
the most important exercise activities which may help you establish and
maintain a healthier pain free free back. Keeping Active with our regular
Active BackCare classes will cost between £3.50 and
£8.00 per class - a little more if you require personal tuition

and Swimming
Hydrotherapy
- We run regular sessions for up to eight people at the Lister
House (Royal British Legion) facility in Ripon. This is a fully equipped
pool and always warm. We
follow a specific
routine which has been developed to help anyone with back
pain. This routine is easy to follow and very safe and effective. Our
regular members all claim to get exceptional benefit from these classes.
Expect
ongoing costs of £6-£8 per session.

second Monday starting September 2nd 2008
Swimming
Group
We have a regular swimming session at the
Harrogate High School poll which is a full size pool heated to 30 degrees.
We have the whole pool for our own use so there is plenty of space to
'do your own thing'.
This
is a free style group session with no instruction
Lifeguard on duty at all times.
Every Tuesday
- 12.30 - 1.30pm
Tai
Chi / Qigong
The
North Yorkshire Regional Offiice run a weekly Tai Chi Gong class which
teaches students a 15 minute back pain specific routine for daily practice
at home.
The exercises and postural control routines have been specially compiled
for people with back problems and they are gentle, safe and easily practiced
either standing up or sitting down.

Yoga
and Pilates
Local
Professional Members offer regular Yoga classes during weekdays. Please
contact us by email for venues and times.
Special
weekend courses are planned to give back pain sufferers the opportunity
to try out specific Back Pain exercises combining Yoga and Pilates movements
and postures. This will help you decide which is the most appropriate
for your own individual needs.
Pilates
is the modern method of safe and effective control of weak backs.
Walking
Group
We organise
at least one safe and relatively short walk every month to give members
who cannot walk far, or have difficulty keeping pace with regular walkers,
the opportunity to see some new scenery and enjoy the company of like-minded
friends.
